Amelia Earhart contributed much to the science of aviation

Article Abstract:

Earhart, born in Kansas in 1898, was the first American woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. This 1932 event took less than 16 hours. On a round the world fight in 1937, her plane was lost in the Pacific. The three nations issuing Earhart commemoratives are the US, Mali, and Surinam.

Sweden announces several new issues

Article Abstract:

On Aug 3, 1995 three stamps will be released, including a four stamp set with children's designs, and a stamp honoring an Aug 1995 world athletic competition in Sweden, with runner Maria Akarak featured in the stamp design. A stamp honoring world peace depicts a gun with the barrel knotted.
