Article Abstract:

The four C's, color, cut, clarity, and carat weight for judging the objective aspects of beauty of gemstones are discussed. Poorly cut gems are of little interest to the connoisseur and the price of a colored gem would normally be discounted 10 percent for a gem that exhibits less than 60 percent brilliance.
