Enlightening building techniques
Article Abstract:
It is relatively simple to decrease the weight of hand-launched gliders, but going too far can weaken the plane's structure. Experiments to lighten gliders are described. A video on the building of a lightened Monarch glider is briefly reviewed.

Easy shell construction
Article Abstract:
Composite sailplanes can be built using shell construction by laminating fiberglass and foam vacu-bagged in or over a mold. Use an airfoil plotting program to design the proper shape, using spruce for the leading and trailing edge.
