Ussingite: Rare rose quartz look-alike

The author discusses the suitability of ussingite crystals in producing unusual cabs and cabochons useful in making attractive jewelries. These rare, pink- or lavender-colored crystals may resemble a rose quartz. They can also contain snow-white albite, blackish green agirine, pink tugtupite, golden vuonnemite or other related minerals.

Albite - the sneaky feldspar
Article Abstract:
An overview of the properties of albite, a plagioclase feldspar mineral, is presented. Although albite is seldom used for gems, it can appear in some. Rocks with albite as the chief feldspar are also rare, but are known from alkaline intrusions. The chemical properties of albite, as well as other plagioclases, are also discussed.
