Web TV. (VDOnet, @home, Intel's Intercast aim to bring TV through Internet connections)(Wirehead) (Internet
Article Abstract:
Efforts to bring interactive TV to reality have given way to efforts to send video over the Internet, as with such early products as CU-SeeMe and Mbone. VDOnet claims that it can send video over the Net with decent quality video delivery even with a standard 28,800Kbps modem, which is better than CU-SeeMe's performance but not enough to deliver online TV. Start-up @home intends to execute a cable-modem test that aims to increase Net transmission speeds by a factor of thousands. @home hopes to offer its service for $30 a month, which does not account for the expense of installation, computer adapters and other setup costs. Intel's new Intercast scheme endorsed by a consortium of recognizable companies is more ingenuous than either of the aforementioned strategies. It uses Web data in the actual TV signal at ISDN speeds. The concept is to pick up TV signals with an installed Intercast board.

Which glove, when?
Article Abstract:
The UK Infection Control Nurses' Association has created detailed guidance for health care professions in all environments on the use of medical gloves. This guidance indicates that gloves made from natural rubber latex are the best option when protection against blood and blood-stained fluids is required. They are comfortable to wear, and give clinical sensitivity. Gloves made from acrylonitrile offer protection against chemicals such as glutaraldehyde, but can cause allergic reactions and release cyanide when incinerated. Gloves made from tactylon resist oxidative forces and contain no known allergens. They break down rapidly when in contact with bone cement. Gloves made from neoprene are suitable for those who have become sensitized to latex protein.
