Article Abstract:
The Los Alamos National Laboratory, Los Alamos, NM's Mortandad Canyon setting was used in a photograph manipulated with painted additions. Its purposed was to show the irony of a peaceful landscape filled with 66% of the US government's nuclear industry research. How the image was achieved is examined.

Article Abstract:
Photographer Jim Brandenberg used a 600mm lens and underexposed his Kodachrome 64 slide film to photograph a bird hovering above a North Dakota prairie marsh in bright sun at 12:00 noon. The green and blue color saturation and gold tones worked perfectly with the bird and grasses in black silhouette.

Article Abstract:
Two different images of a setting sun and Masai herdsmen crossing the desert with their cattle were superimposed to create an unusual silhouette. A Wratten 23A filter with an orange tone was used in the duping process to accentuate the heat of the African sun on the border between Tanzania and Kenya.
