A French connection
Article Abstract:
Normandy invasion veteran Don Sheneman reunited in 1995 with the French girl he had his picture taken with during the invasion. Sheneman and his wife flew to France and was treated to home-cooked meals. When the girl and her family visited in 1996, Sheneman threw a Southern-style party for them.

The US Post Office has released a set of twenty stamps celebrating the comic strips popularized in daily newspapers. These strips date from the early 1900s and include 'Prince Valiant,' 'Krazy Kat,' 'The Toonerville Folks,' and 'Dick Tracy.'
