A patch of paradise: How one homeowner transformed a neglected lot

Article Abstract:

Todd York transforms his 1937 lakeside house with new ideas of an outdoor kitchen, a pool and a whirlpool spa with a view of the lake, a large vegetable patch, and a small stone patio for dining lakeside. To translate his thoughts into action, he builds a terrace at the back of the house overlooking the spa area, L-shaped countertops in the kitchen and 10-by-10 foot garden shed that echoes the main house.

Article Abstract:

An old East Hampton home of Jim Forbes and Hollis, returning to its historic roots despite having been expanded and revised by successive generations of owners is described. To bring back the old beauty, some modifications were made, which included enlarging the family room, lowering of living room ceiling, and relocating the garage doors and driveway.
