Article Abstract:
African-American quilts both utilitarian and improvisational reflect the legacy of an important historical phenomenon the movement of slaves to freedom. The quilt provides with a visual representation of how ingenious and determined the people were in crafting their own escape and the link, which later became African-American symbolism, which represented the duplication of ceremonial materials like Raffia cloth.
