Article Abstract:
The bluestar perennial grows about 4 feet every spring. The periwinkle-blue star-shaped flowers blossom for two to three weeks. Its dark leaves remain for the growing season. The plant does best in full-day sun and rich, moist and well-drained soil.

Astilbes: graceful perennials for midsummer
Article Abstract:
Astilbes have attractive foliage and feathery plumes that bloom in late mid-summer. They can be grown in USDA Zones 4 to 8 and prefer moist, open soil. Normal height is two and one-half to four feet, but shorter hybrids are available.
