Native azaleas do not grow into dense shrubs and are not evergreen. However, they are more hardy, enduring cold winters, insects and diseases, and they bloom over a longer period. They are best planted where they would naturally grow, such as at the edges of clearings or under tall shade trees.

Giddy over pawpaws

Americans have not turned to liking pawpaws. The lumpy, peanut- or potato-shaped fruit is unattractive and exudes an unpleasant odor. Pawpaws, however, tastes like a combination of mango, banana, papaya and peach.
