Family friendly: A storage-starved kitchen becomes a multipurpose "great room"
Article Abstract:
A kitchen with small and inefficient layout was remodeled and converted into a kitchen and a multipurpose room. About 156 square feet to 127-square foot space was added to the kitchen from the guest room and the incomplete attic, without altering the footprint and the new kitchen was furnished with floor-to-ceiling pantry cabinets, a chopping block located between a sink and a range, shallow drawers for linen and cabinets that held baking appliances, thus resulting in a kitchen that looked good and functioned well.

Family style
Article Abstract:
The two-car garage was converted into a kitchen, by kitchen designer Kathy Walder. She capitalized on the garage's site and location to turn it into a wide-open kitchen by lining it with windows, which flooded the space with natural light, accompanied with stool seating, created a snack area and enough space for appliances, and maple cabinets were stained instead of painted to give it a more lasting finish giving it a family-centered, timeless looking kitchen that the owners were looking for.
