Porcupines
Article Abstract:
Porcupines possess quills that are shingled-barb hairs. These number about 30,000 per animal. Porcupines thrive on bark and have been known to destroy commercially planted trees. The animals are not normally subjected to predation except for fishers that attack from the front.

Article Abstract:
Bird watching can be enhanced if the watcher can key in on the habitat of specific birds. A chart is presented that lists 22 common North American birds and their habitats. Bird habitats and what to find in them are discussed, although birds will sometimes behave unpredicably.

The common loon

The common loon, one of five North American species of loon, is considered one of the most beautiful examples of waterfowl. The shape of its body is unique for water propulsion and makes land activity and takeoffs difficult.
