French paperweights
Article Abstract:
The technology which lie behind the making of glass paperweight so popular in 19th century Europe dates back to 15th century Mesopotamia. In Europe, the creation of the glass paperweight was pioneered by a Venetian. A French authority on glass saw the Italian creation and its commercial potential, brought back to France the art and in time, three firms concentrated on the industry.

Wiener Werkstatte ceramics
Article Abstract:
Wiener Werkstatte first produced ceramics in Austria in 1917. The company became known for its brightly glazed figurines, studies of female heads and decorative houseware. The company closed in 1932 due to the impact of wartime and the economy. These ceramics have since become highly collectible items.

Nineteenth-century Italian majolica has been regarded as a problem area and a source of Renaissance fakes. The imitations created are considered as perfect to the extent of deceiving the most experienced judges.
