Gardening for good health

Article Abstract:

Research reveals that gardening on a regular basis relieves stress, improves an individual's cognitive function and could even help in some psychological disorders. Gardening is also the perfect physical exercise, providing an all-round workout that burns calories, strengthens and tones muscles, exercises the heart and lungs and enhances flexibility.

EPA says vermiculite poses little health risk to gardeners

Article Abstract:

Issues related to an EPA report on the health risks associated with the use of vermiculite, a mineral soil additive, are examined. Topics include the conclusion that health risks associated with the mineral are minimal and precautions gardeners can take, such as dampening vermiculite in order to prevent dust, to further reduce risks.

Chambers recieves 2001 AHS Horticultural Therapy Award

Article Abstract:

The American Horticultural Society Horticultural Therapy Award for 2001 was given to Nancy K. Chambers of the Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine at the New York University Medical Center. The rehabilitation center uses gardening activities as therapy for disabled children.
