The Offshore Sailing School in Florida offers a three-day sailing course for beginners. Mornings are allotted for classroom instruction which includes terminology. Afternoons are for hands-on sailing. The course is designed for people with varied interests and with limited time to spare.

The Carolina Raptor Center, Charlotte, NC, aims to reintroduce injured birds of prey to the wilderness, and enhance public knowledge of raptors. A trail through the 57-acre center offers visitors a view of the more than 17 bird species, including peregrine falcons.
