Gardening is a hobby that Kathy Follin Maxwell has acquired from her family, from her grandmother and mother to her sisters and uncles. Her garden is the product of years of restoring and expanding the original, with help from a landscape architect who added a pool, terrace, seat walls and borders.

Gardeners are given several tips on how to properly water their plants. They are advised to water just enough to moisten the soil five to six inches deep. This is to allow the plants to develop deep root systems.
