Job displacement: policy perspectives
Article Abstract:
Most job displacement policies have failed to take into account the economic impact of job displacement on families. Home economists have the extensive knowledge of family and community models to challenge public policies to meet the needs of displaced workers. Home economists must take a leading role in influencing public legislation and programs. Home economists are also qualified to educate job displaced workers on policies and programs. Five professional types of home economists are identified and their potential role in job displacement issues are also outlined.

Building human capital via effective management
Article Abstract:
A survey of working mothers to determine their work and life satisfaction plus the implications of the results for home economists are presented. Respondents revealed that the area of greatest satisfaction for them was their health and the health of their families. Lack of time was the lowest area of satisfaction. Home economists must continue to help families through education on home and family management, nutrition, exercise and other areas related to individual well being.

Older women's concept of home: psychological dimensions
Article Abstract:
An exploratory factor analysis is conducted to identify the principal dimensions of the psychological concept of home for older women. The results indicate that an older woman's concept of home can be deduced from observable phenomenon and empirical data involving self-reported responses. The findings are consistent with previous studies which all suggest a multiple-factor solution.
