Learning to multiply: with some study and patience, you can propagate your own favorite natives
Article Abstract:
Native plants can be cultivated inexpensively in addition to often thriving where exotics cannot. Learning to handle them is both interesting and educational. The changing color of seeds is the most common sign that they are ripe, but they may not indicate their condition at all. Field notes are the most useful way to learn about propagating wild plants, though reading and asking others are both valuable. Specific techniques for growing a range of native species are given.
