A man remembers the simpler days of searching for bait so that he and his brother could fish in the Aspatuk River near their home. When he grew up, he realized that he had lost his connection with slower, more easy-going activities devoid of technological dependencies.

A daughter used every innovative negotiation tool to convince her parents that a pig was a sensible pet animal for their farm. She almost succeeded when she pointed out that, unlike cows, pigs do not have to be milked. She settled for a pet duck.
