Items made after World War II, during Japan's occupation, are easily available and reasonably priced now. Many figurines were thought of as junk at the time they were manufactured, but collectors are beginning to realize their value.

Jigsaw puzzles can be made with some 1/4-inch thick plywood, a scroll saw, and materials such as photos, magazine pictures, and posters. A picture or illustration should be glued to the plywood before it is cut into puzzle pieces.
