Rudolph was the name chosen for the red nosed reindeer by the AmericaEs retail giant, Montgomery Ward in the year 1939, who was looking for something new and different for Santa Claus to hand out to many children that would visit his stores. It is estimated that more than 500 licensed Rudolph products are marketed in the United States since 1939.
