Not your grandma's pumpkin pie

Americans may think of pumpkin only as a pie ingredient. Other cultures, however, use pumpkins in many different dishes. Recipes offered are pumpkin parmesan soup, pumpkin pear soup, pumpkin waffles, and chocolate pumpkin bread. Tips on storing the pumpkin flesh, and toasting its seeds, are given.

Fresh from the winter garden
Article Abstract:
A women describes the results when she planted a winter garden of greens including kale. Under the snow surrounded by a straw mulch she found healthy kale growing. Tips are offered on how best to grow winter kale, and how to harvest it leaf by leaf. Kale is delicious and rich in vitamins A and C.
