The Canis rufus or red wolf again roams wild in the Appalachians after the US Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Park Service released two female pups and their parents in Nov 1991. The experimental project aimed to save the normally nocturnal and solitary wolf from extinction.

Night of the gallivanting salamanders

The season of spring serves as the breeding season for salamanders. Male salamanders migrate to pools to draw breeding females. The ideal environment should have plenty of rain and with temperatures above 40 degrees. The salamder's eggs should grow into adults before the summer.
