Naked truth: the figurative sculpture of Esther Shimazu

Article Abstract:

The emphasis on the voluminous physique, belly and breast in Esther Shimazu's ceramic nudes signifies her direct and unpretentious critique of the society. Shimazu's nudes also resemble Buddha figures. They are bald women and have smooth surfaces.
