Pneumatic, gas-powered nailers fasten with speed
Article Abstract:
The market for power nailers has increased as contractors have realized savings from their use. Cordless, gas powered nailers are ideal for renovations and rehabilitation work. The cordless nailers shoots 1,200 nails on one gas charge and 4,000 nails per battery charge. For framing jobs, crews prefer compressor driven pneumatic nailers. Independent hardware stores are competing with catalog stores and big-box home center stores by offering competitive prices and repair service.

Hand tools: woodworking tools carve a high-margin niche
Article Abstract:
Hand tools and accessories such as saws, spokeshaves, chisels and planes provide some of the highest margins for hardware stores, thanks largely to the 19 million Americans who spend as much as $14 billion a year on the tools.
