Houses constructed before the late 1950s often have water-service line problems, especially in the section where the line is connected to the water main. If the line needs replacing, copper tubing is recommended, and it usually pays to have a plumber do the work.

How to add a shower to a tub

A shower may be added to an existing bathtub by opening the wall in order to change the mixing valve and faucet installation. Once the wall is repaired, surrounds made of fiberglass may be installed. Step-by-step repair and installation procedures are described.

Bathrooms or kitchens that are located more than 30 feet from water heaters will result in wasted water. This waste can be eliminated by installing a recirculating system. The installation can be accomplished for less than $300. Installation tips are presented.
