Rhododendrons and azaleas provide gardeners with some of the hardiest perennials to grow in various climates. They require an acidic soil treated with humus. Although they can handle direct sunlight, they thrive best when they have some shade and protection from the wind.

The (almost) foolproof clematis
Article Abstract:
There are more than 200 species in the clematis vine and herb group. Both vines and flowering hybrids will grow for prolonged seasonal periods depending upon the climate and soil conditions. The soil usually requires a pH between 6.5 and 7. Growing tips are provided.

Lilies-of-the valley
Article Abstract:
Lilies-of-the-valley are hardy plants, but they are toxic. Animals, such as goats, have been known to die after eating them. The flowers require moist soil and light to medium shade. They are relatively disease- and pest-free.
