Roses tough enough for Texas
Article Abstract:
Horticulture specialist, Dr. Steve George and his colleagues are encouraging all southern and southwestern gardeners to grow roses by identifying rose varieties for A&M Research and Extension Center's Texas SuperStar program that survive neglect and all types of Texas weather. Mike Shoup, owner of the Antique Rose Emporium states that the Texas SuperStar label carries clout with gardeners because it means the plants have undergone extensive testing to prove they can take the heat, the bugs and the diseases.
