School days for Baker Prairie

Article Abstract:

The 71-acre Baker Prairie Natural Area spreads alongside Goblin Drive near the entrance of Harrison High School. Four groups including the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission, The Nature Conservancy, as well as two Harrison volunteer groups patrol the whole area by maintaining a walking trial through the prairie, conducting insect counts, and clearing pesky sumac.

The Hunley whispers its secrets

Article Abstract:

The Hunley rammed an explosive, mounted on a 16-foot spar, against the U.S.S. Housatonic and sank the vessel, and then went down itself on the night of February 17, 1864. For more than three years after the sub's recovery, a team of experts has hovered around the Hunley on a mission of mercy and science.
