A monkey swing consists of a rope and a 14-by-8-in oval-shaped oak board. It takes no more than a half-hour to build. Its cost of several dollars is disproportionate to the endless hours of pleasure it gives children who enjoy swinging in all directions from a tree limb.

A portable chair to build

A buckskinner chair was used traditionally for sitting and holding goods and hides on mules. It consists of two wooden pieces that are linked in an 'X' shape. It needs only a carpenter's square, a jigsaw and one 8-ft board, out of which two 35-inch lengths are cut.
