Broad overhangs and deep patios can be built to protect houses from the sun. Beverly and Henry Lambert's home in Ocala, FL, has a porch that is deep enough to shade the house from the afternoon sun and which ends in a bay. The house architecture was influenced by the view offered by the lot.
