Shareholders sue Ernst officers for misrepresenting competitiveness

A class-action suit has been filed by a group of shareholders of Ernst against the company's officers, including Ernst Pres and CEO Hal Smith and VP/CFO Michael Baumann. Filing the suit on behalf of all investors who bought Ernst stock during its initial public offering in Sept 1994 through Jan 1996, the shareholders accused the officers of misrepresenting Ernst's competitiveness. Ernst filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Jul 1996.

Exotic plants such as bonsai, orchids, dwarf conifers, succulents, and tropicals are among the bestsellers. Home center store chains such as Lowe's, HomeBase, and Yardbirds also offer plant accessories such as pots, saucers, hangers, and watering cans to increase profitability in the exotic plant category.
