Sleep-inducing herbs
Article Abstract:
Valerian, hops, and passionflower have been used for many years to overcome insomnia. Valerian's sleep inducing effects are well documented. Several teaspoon-size doses of the plant's dried roots daily can aid sleeplessness. The German government has approved the use of hops as a sedative. Many European countries recognize the medicinal uses of passionflower in treating uneasiness. More scientific studies need to be conducted on all three herbs.

Article Abstract:
Echinacea or purple coneflower can help in the treatment and possible prevention of the common cold or flu. The herb stimulates the immune system by increasing the activity of cells which consume unwanted pathogens, increasing cell growth, and inhibiting virus reproduction. Three species of echinacia are being used commercially though E. purpuria is the most commonly used and most closely studied.
