A couple from Macon, Georgia, when moving into a new house revamped their kitchen and sitting area with comfort and grandchildren in mind. Working with Atlanta interior designer Mary Margaret Nevin, the homeowners mixed furniture from their old house with a few new pieces for a relaxed look that was deceptively durable.

Lisa and Henry Bishop redecorated the kitchen of their home in St. Simons Island, Georgia, to make it more attractive and better suited to their active family. The couple added decor that is child-friendly and easy to maintain such as laminated fabrics, marbled tile countertops and an inexpensive sea grass rug.

Savvy addition

A makeover of the 1920s Bethesda Maryland cottage of Greg Wiedemann is discussed in which site's positive attributes and vintage facade was preserved. A double gable created space for the children's bedrooms on the second floor and the built-in dressers maximized floorspace after the makeover.
