Sun sense: skin cancer
Article Abstract:
Gardeners should be aware of the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation and take steps to protect themselves and their children. There are three types of skin cancer, basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, which tend to be localized and treatable, and melanoma, which can be fatal. Exposure to sunlight should be minimized, sunscreen should be worn at all times, and children should be educated as to the risks of sun exposure.
