The antique detective
Article Abstract:
A description is presented of late Victorian era design, which focused on surface decoration, ornamentation and embellishment. The style evolved from the Aesthetic Movement, through the Arts and Crafts Movement, the Victorian style produced shapes that were less flamboyant and more angular.

Antique Bowie knives
Article Abstract:
Legend has it that the Bowie knife was named after a man called James Bowie who survived multiple wounds and fought attackers using a large butcher knife in 1827. Bowie knives can still be found in yard sales and flea markets and recognized by their nickle or silver guards and stag grips.

Several inquiries on the origin, manufacture and price value of certain furniture were answered. In one case, the design of a six-legged table was determined to be of a Colonial Revival origin, with an estimated value of $650 to $750.
