Article Abstract:
Henry Mitchell shared his love of gardening weekly with Washington Post readers in 'The Essential Earthman' column from 1973 until his death from cancer in 1993. Mitchell wrote for the Commercial Appeal in Memphis, TN, for 20 years before beginning his career at the Post. Mitchell's other weekly column, 'Any Day,' touched on a variety of topics and is compiled in a book of the same name. 'The Essential Earthman,' 'One Man's Garden' and 'Henry Mitchell on Gardening' are compilations of his gardening column.

The Holden Arboretum
Article Abstract:
The Holden Arboretum in Cleveland, Ohio has 11,786 plants which are displayed on 3,400 acres. It features many native plants, such as the pawpaw tree, bunchberry and American twinflower are featured in the Myrtle S. Holden Wildflower Garden. The arboretum is open all year long.
