Article Abstract:

Champion equestrian Katie Monahan Prudent has been very successful both as an athlete and as mother and wife to her child and husband, respectively. However, her quest for the elusive Olympics gold medal prompted her to train again in preparation for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics in Georgia.

Freedom came on Juneteenth

Article Abstract:

Texas celebrates freedom every June 19, the day the Emancipation Proclamation was delivered in the state in 1865. An official state holiday since 1979, it has become a day for family reunions, a rodeo at The George Ranch Historical Park and a reenactment of the Proclamation's issuance.

Art on parade

Article Abstract:

In April 2000, the first weekend of the Houston International Festival in Texas featured the 12th Annual Art Car Weekend. The weekend's main focus was the Art Car Parade, which featured a selection of 250 cars including the Cow-de-Lac and the Y2K bug.
