What the Jumans did not know about Michael; the adoption agency never mentioned his genetic legacy: schizophrenia; the consequences were devastating
Article Abstract:
The Martin Juman family buried their adopted son Michael in Mar 1994 after a long ordeal with his battle against his genetically inherited schizophrenia. The Louise Wise Services had decided in 1965 not to tell the parents about Michael's mother, Florence Daybloch, who had undergone a lobotomy at least 20 years before he was born. Other cases of children with similar histories who were adopted from Louise Wise are examined. The Jumans sued the agency in 1991 for wrongful adoption.
