Article Abstract:
Tender perennials of the tropical import varieties provide beautiful foliage over the course of their long seasons. One example of this is the canna 'striata,' which possesses excellent foliage that exudes exoticism from its colorful flowers. Other examples of tropical perennials are presented.

From the ground up: hard pruning transforms familiar trees and shrubs
Article Abstract:
Manipulating or pruning trees and shrubs can be done by their owner or by the winter season. Many times the winter weather will kill a shrub almost to the ground. Hard pruning can also be done by the gardener who trims their trees and shrubs almost to the ground.
