Vendors exchange services for the opportunity to sell

Article Abstract:

The growth of hardware store chains such as Home Depot and Lowe's have prompted retailers to wonder about how to train the legion of workers that would be needed to man new stores. With the tens of thousands of products that they must stock, retailers are now turning to manufacturers to assume responsibility for the sell-through of their products. The chains are asking manufacturers to control inventory, improve product presentations as well as help train sales staff.
