Photographs of 20 plants suffering from nutrient deficiencies are presented. For each ailment, the missing nutrient, symptoms and organic remedy is given. A directory of garden supplies sources is provided for the the purchase of the recommended soil amendments.

Native nutmeats

Article Abstract:

Native American nut trees, hickories, walnuts, butternuts, hazelnuts, chestnuts and pecans are easily grown. Butternuts and chestnuts are susceptible to fungi, but efforts are being made to save these trees. Planting tips and sources are given.

Pests? Disease? Add some oil to your arsenal

Article Abstract:

A mixture of dishwashing detergent, water and cooking oil can control many garden mites and pests. The sweet potato whitefly, aphids and spider mites stayed away from plants sprayed with the mixture. Plants should be sprayed during cool hours.
