AFMA ups forecast for '98
Article Abstract:
The American Furniture Manufacturers Assn. (AFMA) has greatly increased its projections for US furniture factory performance in 1998 following an impressive first six months. The association projects the 1998 factory shipments to climb to $23.9 billion, up by 12.7% from the 1997 level, a figure that means a 10.7% real gain after modest price hike adjustments. AFMA had earlier forecasted in April 1998 that the shipments for the year will climb by a mere 6.6%, which translates to a real gain of 4.3%.
