Flakeboard sets plant expansion

Flakeboard Co. Ltd., a maker of high-density fiberboard, is allocating C$30 million for a plant expansion. Flakeboard stated the expansion, which is slated to be completed sometime during summer 1999, will include the installation of a new covered raw materials facility, a wood-burning boiler system, a digester and refiner for fibers and a dryer. Flakeboard President and CEO Kelly Shotbolt stated that expansion will double the firm's annual production capacity to approximately 6 million ft of 3-millimeter board.

V.I.P. launches warehouse, delivery training program

Mega Group/V.I.P. of Halifax, Nova Scotia, is implementing a training program for its delivery and warehouse workers that is aimed at improving customer service. The program, developed by V.I.P.'s strategic ally, Best Brands Plus of Germantown, TN, a cooperative buying group, covers maintenance, driving, lifting, loading and delivery. V.I.P.'s training program, which is composed of a training manual and video, seeks to feature delivery service not only as a necessary endeavor but as a customer-keeping activity.
