Domain, Foamex form ad alliance
Article Abstract:
Domain, a high-end furniture retailer, is collaborating with Foamex, a furniture components supplier, in an advertising alliance. As part of the deal, Foamex will help shoulder the cost of Domain's full-page newspaper ads in three major markets, including New York, Boston, MA, and Washington, DC, which will likewise provide information regarding Foamex's Reflex polymer cushioning. To launch in fall-1998, the ads in the Boston Herald, New York Times and Washington Post will run for three months and reach approximately 7 million readers, with a target market encompassing women aged between 25 and 54 and with household incomes of at least $75,000.

Levit'z future in doubt?
Article Abstract:
Levit'z, the second-biggest furniture store chain in the US, needs to improve its performance to survive in the short-term, according to a report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Declining same- store sales and combined net losses of $51.3 million in past two fiscal years have cast serious doubts on the short-term viability of the company. Company CFO Patrick Nolan said the harsh words on the report can be blamed on an unusually tough month in June 1997, when same-store sales declined 17.3%.
