Furniture catalog competition heats up
Article Abstract:
There is an increased competition in the furniture catalog retailing industry as niche players and newcomers entered the industry. Long-time players that include Fingerhut, Neiman Marcus, JCPenney, Scully & Scully, Spiegel, Saks' Folio and Horchow are facing challenges prompted by newcomers. New catalog furniture retailers include Lexington, KY-based J. Peterman, Kennett Square, PA-based Calico Corners and San Francisco, CA-based Sharper Image. Even Sears, which discontinued its legendary catalog in 1993, has made a comeback as a catalog furniture retailer.
