The lack of adequate documentation complicates the identification of makers and decorators of the traditional German furniture from the Mahantongo Valley, PA. The Mahantongo Valley furniture designs defines the cultural transition from German to English craft in the 19th century.

The gardens at Conner Prairie
Article Abstract:
The gardens represent the social and economic standing of their owners. In each of the garden, herbs, heirloom vegetables and flowers were cultivated to provide food for the home. Other produce included decorations for the home and ingredients for medicines and flavorings.
