The Decosit and Textile d'Interieur Premiere exhibition indicated the existence of similar color and design selection in both the US and Europe with construction remaining a major concern of fabric makers. The September 1998 event showed that Europeans prefer plumper and softer chenille fabrics which are also doing well in the US. Pearson vice president of design of upscale upholstery Terry Allen. Microfibres, DuPont team up for soft, durable velvet
Article Abstract:
Microfibres has combined its nylon velvet manufacturing operations with the DuPont company to develop a fabric collection named Infinesse that will offer a five-year warranty. The product line is composed of 13 patterns based on the DuPont Xtra Life fine-denier nylon fibers which merge wear resistance and softness. DuPont has already tested the patterns on slippage, seam breakage, tear strength, and abrasion. The only patter that has been employed in furniture is the Jaguar while others will be introduced on upholstery frames in October 1998.

McCreary Modern names Quirk president
Article Abstract:
McCreary Modern has appointed Bill Quirk as its new president to replace founder Bob J. McCreary, who remains as the company's chairman. Quirk, who has been in the furniture industry for 26 years, will usurp the position as his second job with the company. Quirk previously worked as a sales representative for the company in Florida, but transferred to Southern Furniture of Conover as a sales representative in the Midwest and Canada. McCreary expects the company to become more responsive to its customers with the leadership of Quirk.
