Here comes 'valley of death'

The Furniture Manufacturers Credit Association's (FMCA's) educational conference held in Charlotte, New Carolina in May 2004 concluded that the industry had about five good years before a slowdown ensued. Former CEO of Ladd Furniture and current director of Havertys, Fred Schuermann called United States as the 'valley of death' because though it has the best furniture stores, it has a lot of old people who don't buy that much furniture.
